the turbine hall at the tate modern is surely one of the most inspiringly open spaces on the british isles and the satisfaction garnered from not only getting the chance to witness artists such as actress and lapalux performing in such a room, but to experience the grant funded, volunteer led and fantastically enthusiastic endorsement of such projects first hand left me incredibly content. the kusama exhibition is absolutely breathtaking and was beautifully soundtracked (on my headphones) by four tet's there is love in you album and the workshops running in conjunction were also incredibly enlightening, special thanks go to rachel raynes from the thesouplab.co.uk and audio artist kelvin brown for tolerating and teaching me a few things. actress' performance was suitably understated and minimal, virtually beatless for the most-part, lapalux quickly picked up the pace thereafter and koreless finished off the bill admirably. a great day had by all i assumed. i managed to take a few pictures and have included a few tracks which suit the mood including a beautiful session version of angel echoes, one of my favorite early lapalux tracks and a track that flying lotus made for the still unseen burial dj kicks, something that came straight to mind when looking at some of kusama's early paintings . if you are a young person check collectives.tate.org.uk to get involved in future projects at the tate.
